The acoustic radiation from a source inside hard-walled semi-infinite duct or tube, such as for ducted fans and rotors, is investigated. In particular study of cutoff modes, which have the potential to affect far-field pressure sources close open end, presented. A large amount work has been done mathematically experimentally investigate propagating cuton modes.
